19.3. Premier League: Best Betting Tips For The Whole Round

After last week’s smaller round of fixtures it’s time for a classic Premier League Saturday, with six matches to be played. We highlight the three key clashes in each game along with the best betting tips for the whole round. This Saturday’s most interesting clash may be the lunch-time kick-off, when Arsenal travel to Everton.

12:45 GMT Everton-Arsenal

Both Everton and Arsenal return to the league after a two week absence due to FA-Cup commitments. In last weekend’s quarter-finals Arsenal suffered a shock 1-2 defeat to Watford while Everton beat Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park after an impressive performance.

Arsenal are going through a tough period, as their last seven matches have seen the Gunners emerge victorious only once. In addition to their FA-Cup KO, the Reds were also on the receiving end of a vintage Barcelona performance over two legs in the Champions League round of 16. The schedule has been tough, with defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Swansea in the Premier League meaning the gap to leaders Leicester has grown up to 11 points, albeit with a game in hand.

Injuries have yet again been a thorn in the Londoner’s side, and with a hectic schedule players have been running themselves into the ground repeatedly. Unlike Arsenal, Everton are picking up form at the right time, with six victories from their last eight matches. With a trip to Wembley on the horizon they may yet climb up the table from their current position, 12th

Due to the Gunners’ busy schedule Everton have fresher legs than their counterparts, and with the roar of the Goodison Park faithful behind them they seem the likelier to emerge victorious based on current form. Although Arsenal may have the edge in terms of pure quality, this one has home win written all over it.

15:00 Chelsea-West Ham

Chelsea suffered two major disappointments in one week, crashing out of both the Champions League and the FA Cup to PSG and Everton respectively. As their last league outing brought with it only a draw against Stoke, the Blues are without a win in their last three matches. There is still time to make their league position more acceptable, but can they bounce back quickly and find the motivation with no trophies to play for?

West Ham on the other hand are having their best season in recent memory. The Hammers are unbeaten in their last seven in all competitions and lie fifth in the Premier League. Even a spot in next season’s Champions League isn’t out of the question, with Man City only two points and struggling Arsenal just three points ahead of them.

Although Chelsea’s motivation can be questioned, a ferocious derby-day atmosphere should fire them up for Saturday’s 5pm kick-off. In terms of material the Hammers are way behind the Blues and at Stamford Bridge Chelsea are clear favourites to pick up the three points.

The odds for a home win look good and are definitely worth a punt.

15:00 Crystal Palace-Leicester

Crystal Palace are going through an interesting phase in their season. The Eagles are soaring through the FA Cup, with a trip to Wembley booked after a 2-0 away win at Reading. Despite this Alan Pardew’s men haven’t translated their cup form to the league with their last Premier League three points coming three months ago! As you would expect, their position in the table has dropped accordingly and with the relegation spots looming they need to start picking up points fast.

Even away from home league leaders Leicester are a formidable opponent. The Flying Foxes don’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. In their last two matches they grinded out important 1-0 wins against Newcastle and Watford, widening the gap on second-placed Tottenham to five points.

Although Palace did the double over Leicester last season, this season the Foxes ran out 1-0 winners at the King Power stadium in the corresponding fixture. Another goal-tight affair wouldn’t be a surprise with neither team likely to go gung-ho in search of goals. With the game being played at Selhurst Park Leicester edge in quality shouldn’t have as big of an effect.

In terms of betting this tight fixture looks to be a good hunting ground for under-bets, with our pick being under 2,5 goals.

17:30 Swansea-Aston Villa

Aston Villa have had a suicidal season. The Villain’s look totally bereft of confidence with nothing to give on the pitch. In their last fixture Tottenham stole the points from Villa Park with a comfortable 2-0 victory. With safety 9 points away, Villa look certain to play in the Championship next season.

Swansea have also slumped into the relegation dog-fight, languishing 16th in the table. However, they do have an 8-point cushion to the drop zone, and with the Swans’ material they aren’t really relegation material. It’s been a tough season, but recently there has been some sunlight visible amidst the clouds as they beat both Norwich and Arsenal.

If Swansea intend to stay in the Premier League, this kind of a game is a must-win. In Wales they have a strong home advantage and are clear favourites to emerge with the win, with an upset looking extremely unlikely.
