Sunday’s round is just as interesting as Saturday’s as the end of the season draws nearer. Leicester are playing for the title while Manchester United try and reach the Champions League places in a clash with Everton. The best betting tips are a mix of good fortunes both home and away.

13:30 Leicester – Southampton

Leicester are still looking to complete the surprise of the century and their form shows no signs of fading, as they stand undefeated in their last five. These five matches have brought four victories with a solitary draw against West Brom. However, the quality of their play has been slightly suspicious in recent weeks, especially in the last two games. They defeated both Crystal Palace and Newcastle 1-0, and the performances were far from superior as their opponents controlled the matches and created more chances.

Hard-fought victories against lesser sides are always important, but it’s clear that with these kind of showings better sides will punish them. On the other hand, Leicester seem to save their best performances for the top of the table clashes, as Arsenal are the only side near the top who have managed to defeat them this year.

Meanwhile seventh-placed Southampton displayed their guts two weeks ago against Liverpool. Liverpool led 2-0 after a good portion of the second half, but the Saints clawed back and even managed to grab all three points. Even Sadio Mane’s missed penalty at the start of the second half didn’t dampen their spirits.

The match against Liverpool was Southampton’s season in a nutshell, great potential but lacking in consistency. On their day they can match anyone, but at their worst they can look almost horrific, good examples of this being the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth and the 1-1 draw with Sunderland.

In Sunday’s match the deciding point will be which Leicester shows up: the one that defeated Manchester City away or the one that allowed relegation-threatened Newcastle to control the game. An in-form Leicester should pick up all three points, but with the form of their last couple of games an upset could be on the cards, as Southampton’s attack is on another level to their previous opponents. The Saints shouldn’t go gung-ho though, as it puts them in danger of a hammering.

16:00 Manchester United – Everton

The international break came at a good time for Manchester United, as they were forced to play as many as 5 matches in the past two weeks. In terms of results there wasn’t much to show for them, except the impressive 0-1 derby win away to Manchester City, although City did beat them 26-5 in terms of shots. United come into Sunday’s match sixth in the table.

United have had a real rollercoaster season, with 0-1 and 3-2 victories against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively being overshadowed by awful performances against Sunderland (2-1), Southampton (0-1) and Danish minnows FC Midtjylland (2-1) in the Europa League. The Red Devils have a great amount of attacking quality in their squad, but for some reason it’s not being reflected on the scoreboard. In most of their draws and defeats they’ve managed to control possession, but this hasn’t led to many scoring chances at all. It’s lucky for United that their defence has played well, as they’ve conceded the second fewest goals in the division.

Everton on the other hand haven’t had trouble creating chances – or finishing them, with their total of 51 goals being the 4th most in the Premier League. Their much maligned defence that has conceded 41 times is the only reason they haven’t been knocking on the door of the top four this season, and the Toffees languish 12th in the league table. The side’s seasons have been almost polar opposites in terms of attacking, defending and entertaining play.

You can’t accuse Everton of being boring, as many of their matches have seen goals galore both home and away. In the league they’ve picked up some impressive wins, with Newcastle and Stoke being defeated 3-0 and Aston Villa 3-1 away. In January they jogged to a 3-3 draw with Chelsea and at the start of March they were defeated by West Ham 3-2. The nets have been bulging all season, and there’s no sign of things changing so far.

Even though United’s game has shown signs of improvement with fresh young faces coming to the fore, they have to put in a strong performance if they want to keep the points at Old Trafford tomorrow. However, their solid defence did manage to keep out Manchester City, so with a similar performance they should be able to do the same to Everton. It must be also remembered that Everton’s leaky defence are guaranteed to concede some chances, even against United’s out of form offense. But, as previous matches have shown, Everton are one of the most inconsistent teams in the division. On their day there are not a lot of sides who can stop them. Earlier this season Everton lost humiliatingly (0-3) at home against United, so they could be out for revenge and certainly won’t be lacking in fighting spirit.
