16 JUNE - EURO 2016 BETTING PREVIEW: CAN ENGLAND BOUNCE BACK?

Yesterday's Euro 2016 betting tips were a resounding success! Our traditional tips went 5/6, as Slovakia (47/20), Slovakia x2 (31/50), Romania - Switzerland X (11/5), Double Chance 1x (31/50) and Albania +2,5 all gave us wins! Our only miss was Albania +1,5 (123/100), and that was only due to a Payet goal on the 96th minute. However, this was made up by our special betting tips that made a small fortune! Marek Hamsik's goal (16/5) and assist (9/2), Dimitri Payet's goal (7/5) and Romania's yellow cards over 2,5 (69/50) all hit home!

After a successful Wednesday there's no time to rest on our laurels so we turn our gaze towards Thursday. In the 2pm kick-off the Euros serve up one of the most interesting matches of the group stages, as England face Wales!

14:00 ENGLAND - WALES

England and Roy Hodgson in particular have received a lot of criticism for their draw against Russia. England defended well, as Russia managed only two shots on target all game. However, this didn't somehow prevent Russia from equalizing in added time. The result made Hodgson think about changing his tactics, so it'll be interesting to see what formation he chooses against Wales.

Wales come into the match high on confidence thanks to their 2-1 win against Slovakia in their opening game. That win was the first for Wales at a major tournament for 58 years, and they controlled the game for the full 90 minutes, even if it did take until the end of the match before they found the winner. That win means that Wales can face England relatively free of pressure.

England's tournament woes have yet again been in the headlines since their draw with Russia. However, although they failed to pick up three points, it must be said that they were in full control of the match. England seemed to be missing that final spark up front, as Harry Kane failed to show the form that earned him the Golden Boot award in the Premier League this season. Hodgson might give Daniel Sturridge or Jamie Vardy a chance on Thursday. This might be a mistake, as Kane was the most consistent performer out of the England squad this season and rarely has two bad performances in a row.

On Wales' side Gareth Bale's importance grows in correlation with the quality of the opponent. He started the tournament strongly with a free-kick goal against Slovakia, and more of the same is needed if Wales are going to get anything from England. Aaron Ramsey is another name to look out for, as most of Wales' attacks run through him. Wales will most likely be defending for their lives for most of the game, and Bale's speed and skill will be crucial when Wales manage to break forward.

BETTING TIPS:

England somehow managed to lose their lead against Russia. For most of the game they were in cruise control, and material-wise they're the clear favourites for the win. They are also playable in terms of the odds. This is kind of like a derby match, so you can expect a fiery atmosphere both on the pitch and in the stands. It wouldn't be a surprise if both sides manage to create plenty of scoring chances, so cards and goals can be expected.

17:00 UKRAINE - NORTHERN IRELAND

Ukraine lost their opening match of the tournament to Germany 2-0, but their performance wasn't bad, as there's no shame in losing to the reigning world champions. They created a couple of really good scoring opportunities, and Manuel Neuer had to be at his best to keep a clean sheet. They got the ball as far as the goal-line on one occasion, so with a bit of luck the score could've been very different. Now, Ukraine face the "easiest" team in their group, and although Northern Ireland defend wholeheartedly, Ukraine's superstars will still have more space and time on the ball than against Germany.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's performance against Poland didn't impress, as they failed to muster a single shot at their opponent's goal. Their whole game plan seemed to revolve around defending, and attacking-wise they didn't offer much. A tight defence is a good thing, but you can't win a football match if you don't score.

Northern Ireland will most likely defend deep, as they simply can't afford to venture forward and leave themselves vulnerable at the back. Ukraine will control possession, which makes their skillful wingers Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevgen Konoplyanka even more dangerous. The Ukrainians possess more than enough cunning to unlock the Irish defence. However, a lot of goals can't be expected, as Northern Ireland are such a disciplined side.

To Score: Yarmolenko 13/10 Betsafe

To Score: Konoplyanka 19/10 Betsafe

Ukraine's last matches:

12.6.2016 Germany - Ukraine 2-0 (Euro 2016)

3.6.2016 Albania - Ukraine 1-3 (friendly)

29.5.2016 Romania - Ukraine 3-4 (friendly)

Northern Ireland's last matches:

12.6.2016 Poland - Northern Ireland 1-0 (Euro 2016)

4.6.2016 Slovakia - Northern Ireland 0-0 (friendly)

27.5.2016 Northern Ireland - Belarus 3-0 (friendly)

BETTING TIP:

This game doesn't look like it'll have a lot of goals in it. Northern Ireland are unlikely to find the back of the net, so a 1-0 or 2-0 victory for Ukraine wouldn't be a surprise.

20:00 GERMANY - POLAND

This promises to be a cracking game. Germany were perhaps the second most convincing team in the first round of fixtures right behind Italy. Their win over Ukraine showed that yet again Germany have arrived at a major tournament with all guns blazing. A controlled and stylish performance brought a 2-0 victory over a Ukraine side that was not willing to give up easily. Germany's most disappointing performer in the opening match was Mario Götze, who occupied the false-nine role.  It will be interesting to see how coach Joachim Löw reacts to this. Germany's midfield dynamo Toni Kroos will be in the spotlight yet again, creating Germany's attacks and marshalling them forward.

Poland's bold and attacking style hasn't come to the fore yet at Euro 2016, but that is understandable given they faced Northern Ireland in their opening match, who were only interested in defending. Of course, Germany are defensively even better, but Poland will get a couple of chances with quick counter-attacks. The Poles will be a tougher test for Germany's defence than Ukraine was. Slightly surprisingly it was Arkadiusz Milik, not Robert Lewandowski who was the in-form striker for Poland in their opening match. Lewandowski was barely visible against Northern Ireland, as the Bayern-striker failed to get a single shot on target all game. However, this was due to the fact that he was man-marked all game, and Germany will also give him some preferential treatment on Thursday. This opens up space for Poland's other players like Milik, whose fine form for Ajax seems to have continued at the Euros.

Poland come into the match as underdogs, but they have a real chance to cause an upset. Although the qualifiers aren't the same thing as a major tournament, Their 2-0 victory over Germany in the qualifiers showed that the difference in quality between the countries isn't as large as it once was. Poland managed to sneak three goals in the two qualifying matches against the reigning world champions, so Neuer could be in for a busy evening. Germany haven't failed to score in a European Championships match since the 2008 final against Spain, so their attacking quality is also immense.

Poland's last matches:

BETTING TIP

Finally, a match at the Euros where a lot of goals can be expected! Poland beat Germany in the qualifiers, so they'll attack the Germans with confidence. Germany's effectiveness going forward is no secret. Both sides are likely to get on the score-sheet, so overs are a good idea for betting in Thursday's final fixture.
