June 19th EURO 2016 BETTING PREVIEW: FRANCE - SWITZERLAND

20:00 ROMANIA - ALBANIA

Billed pre-tournament as the weakest team in Group A, Albania have shown that they shouldn't be underestimated. Although they haven't manage to pick up even a single point, their performances have been surprisingly good. In their opening match against Switzerland the Albanians went down to ten men early on, but still only lost 1-0 after a good defensive performance. Even France struggled to break through the resilient Albanians, but eventually two late goals were enough to secure France the win. Although a spot in the knockout stages is most likely already out of reach, the Albanians can go into their last match in Group A with their heads held high. Romania are in for a tough match.

Romania also gave France a proper run for their money earlier in the tournament, but eventually succumbed to a late goal, just like their opponents on Sunday. They also challenged Switzerland impressively, and their defence was yet again as resilient as we've come to expect. The Swiss had 62% of possession, but only edged shots on goal 4-6. However, the worrying thing about Romania is that they've yet to score from open play at the Euros, as both their goals have come from the penalty spot.

Romania desperately need all three points if they harbor any hopes of reaching the knockout stages. A win doesn't guarantee them a place, but it would be a huge step in the right direction. The men in yellow played a very physical game against Switzerland, which led to three consecutive yellow cards. Their tactics are unlikely to change for such a must-win game. Albania have also been one of the dirtiest teams in the tournament, so tempers may flare if the game gets heated. Both teams have collected seven yellow cards in their two games, and more are likely to follow on Sunday.

29.5.2016 Albania - Qatar 3-1 (friendly)

BETTING TIPS:

Romania are in desperate need of a victory, so they have the edge in terms of motivation. Although Albania have fought valiantly, Romania also have an advantage in pure quality and are favourites for the win. With odds like these they are a must in your betting plans for Sunday!

20:00 FRANCE - SWITZERLAND

France have already secured their place in the knockout stages thanks to their wins over Romania and Albania, but don't expect them to go easy on Switzerland in front of their home supporters. The hosts have already broken through two resilient defences, and although the Swiss were also successful against the same countries, it's hard to believe that their defence will do any better against the dominant French. A draw would be enough for France to make sure of top spot in Group A, earning them (possibly) an easier run-in through the knockout stages. However, the passionate French supporters won't be content with a draw, and we expect their players to have the same mentality.

Switzerland have been quite strong at Euro 2016, with their win and draw most likely being already enough for a place in the European Championship knockout stages for the first time in their history. They've performed well throughout the pitch and have scored the goals they've needed. The Swiss have won the shots statistics against both Albania (17-7) and Romania (14-19). However, they haven't shown anything special as of yet, and it's rather unlikely that they'd be able to challenge - or defeat - a team like France in their final group stage match.

The French manager Didier Deschamps decided to rest both of his star players Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann against Albania, which almost led to a catastrophe. Griezmann came off the bench to score a late winner, and we expect him to be back in the starting eleven come Sunday. France have of course already secured qualification from the group stages, but you'd think that winning the group would interest Deschamps enough to restore two of his biggest stars to the team. Striker Olivier Giroud had a lot of chances against Albania, but as has so often been the case, his finishing was slightly lacking. However, with service like this France team tend to offer he will get his chances against Switzerland. Dimitri Payet in particular has looked unplayable at times, no matter who the opponents are.

Switzerland's last matches:

15.6.2016 Romania - Switzerland 1-1 (Euro 2016)

10.6.2016 Albania - Switzerland 0-1 (Euro 2016)

3.6.2016 Switzerland - Moldova 2-1 (Friendly)

28.5.2016 Switzerland - Belgium 1-2 (Friendly)

France's last matches:

15.6.2016 France - Albania 2-0 (Euro 2016)

10.6.2016 France - Romania 2-1 (Euro 2016)

4.6.2016 France - Scotland 3-0 (Friendly)

30.5.2016 France - Cameroon 3-2 (Friendly)

BETTING TIPS:

France have slightly struggled against both Romania and Albania, but still have a perfect record. The final match of the group stage has a much more pressure-free starting point with a spot in the knockout stages already secured. The French are clear favourites for the win, and their odds are surprisingly good. Vive la France!
