The round of 16 in the English League Cup brings football fans two top-quality games. The first of these is the match between Liverpool and Tottenham at Anfield on the 25th of October.

Liverpool are the Premier League's form side going into this match. Jürgen Klopp has lead his team on a nine-game unbeaten run, during which the Reds have picked up seven wins and two impressive draws against Spurs away (1-1) and Manchester United (0-0).

Liverpool managed to unlock West Bromwich's stern defence during a fantastic first-half performance, and even a consolation goal for WBA didn't dampen their resolve. Against United they failed to find a way past the Red Devils' back four and David De Gea, and it will be interesting to see what Klopp's team can do against the league's best defence so far.

Tottenham are the only undefeated team in English domestic football, and after their 2-0 win over title rivals Manchester City it looked like nothing could stop them. Their last couple of games however haven't gone entirely to plan, as they have drawn three in a row, scoring only once in the process.

Although all of those draws came away from home, the 1-1 draw against West Brom in particular and the 0-0 goalless match at Bournemouth don't bode well of the Spurs' attacking at the moment. Son Heung-Min's purple patch seems to be over, as the Korean striker has now gone four games without a goal. Meanwhile, their summer signing Vincent Janssen has found the net only once in 13 appearances.

It is clear to see that Spurs are desperately missing the influence and threat that Harry Kane brings to the team, but the England international will still be sidelined for a while due to a foot injury.

As was mentioned earlier, Spurs are yet to lose in the Premier League this season, and only four goals conceded in nine matches is telling in terms of how difficult of a side they are to face. Taking this into account the odds for a Spurs are huge! [1X2: 81/20 (Betcart) / Draw no bet: 11/4 (Bet365)]

However, at the same time it must be noted that Tottenham are likely to rotate their starting eleven due to fatigue and their tough schedule. In the last round of the EFL Cup Spurs dispatched minnows Gillingham with a team full of youngsters, and Pochettino has said that he will field more youngsters in further rounds as well. It remains to be seen what kind of a performance the kids can produce against Liverpool's free-flowing team.

Liverpool will also be likely to not field their strongest eleven, but as the Reds are not in a European competition this season they don't have to worry as much about fatigue and injuries. 'Pool have also been strong at Anfield this campaign, and the only time they haven't taken all three points was in that draw against a defense-minded United team.

1X2 - Liverpool: 18/25 (Unibet / LeoVegas)

Liverpool have managed only one clean sheet all season, so their defence is definitely vulnerable. Their active pressing game has reaped results, but Spurs have been able to do the same, with the best example coming in the game against Manchester City.

All in all, this game will be an interesting encounter between two top-tier sides, and if 'Pool don't rotate their squad too much they are the favourites to progress to the quarter-finals.
